From The Nose

The artist behind Taboz Fragrances, affectionately referred as the Nose (French: nez), created this section to share some of our secrets, as all starts with the Nose...

SECRET #1 - INNOVATION IN NOTES APPROACH

If you are a fine fragrances lover, you are familiarized with the Perfumery Notes subject. However, at Taboz Fragrances we do not follow the industry’s tradition approach.

PERFUMERY NOTES

Perfume notes are divided into three components: head notes (also known as top notes and/or opening notes ), heart notes (also known as middle notes), and base notes.

The Top Notes:

Top notes are the most volatile in the Fragrance Pyramid and consist of light molecules that tend to evaporate from your skin within minutes after you spritz. They are recognized immediately upon application of the perfume.

Common fragrance top notes include citrus (lemon, mandarin, lime, orange, bergamot, etc.), light fruits (grapefruit, berries, etc.) and herbs (clary sage, basil, peppermint, etc.).

The Middle Notes

The middle notes, also known as the heart notes, are the main body of a perfume and emerge in the middle of the perfume’s dispersion process once the top notes evaporate. They last longer than the top notes and have a strong influence on the base notes to come. The scent of middle note compounds is usually more mellow and "rounded", a smooth combination of floral or fruit tones; sometimes infused with spices. Scents from this note class will typically disappear between minutes and hours after the application of a perfume.

Common fragrance middle notes include geranium, rose, lemongrass, ylang ylang, lavender, coriander, nutmeg, neroli and jasmine.

The Base Notes

The base notes are the foundation and final fragrance notes that will typically appear close to the departure of the middle notes. The base and middle notes together are the main theme of a perfume. The job of the base notes is to provide a deep, solid and lasting impression. These often-rich notes linger on the skin for hours after the top notes have dissipated.

Common fragrance base notes include cedarwood, sandalwood, vanilla, amber, patchouli, oakmoss and musk.

TABOZ FRGARANCES NOTES

It is very important to understand that most of the fragrances in the market has been created with full focus on top notes for quick sales after testing in shops, even though this first impression will be the first to fade given their light molecular structure. This situation will often lead to disappointing feelings within the first hour of wearing these perfumes.

At Taboz Fragrances we do not focus on the opening notes as a first impression for boosting sales but we have an integral view of our creations recognizing that the evolution of the fragrance will depend on the wearer but it is heavily influenced by the quality and quantity (concentration) of its ingredients along with the complexity of the formulation. This innovative approach challenges the traditional view of perfumers to the level that we inverted the Fragrance Pyramid to enforce the focus on the balance needed for our soulful creations:

This approach ensures that our fragrance’s soul is created in harmony throughout the fusion of top, heart and base notes.

A good example of our approach if you are a top notes lover is a longtime favorite from our portfolio where you’ll find sparkling top notes all over the olfactory journey, the CALABRIAN BERGAMOT. In most of the cases, even considering that our fine fragrance will react to each wearer differently, the high quality of the generously used natural raw materials in this creation ensures that typically notes that are considered top (as citrus) are able to transition into heart and base notes for a long-lasting experience.

On the other hand, if you like a pleasingly varied (and balanced) type of fragrance, the preferred fine fragrances of our portfolio would be COUGHTON ROSE where the accent during the creative process is on extending the middle notes life. Top notes should be almost imperceptible in this fragrance.

Finally, if you like depth and intoxicating type of fine fragrances, FOFONA PATCHOULI is the chosen one for your olfactory journey, even though the often-unpleasant initial impression of base notes when used as principal focus of the creation.

Note that the rest of our FINE FRAGRANCES are -mainly- a soulful fusion of notes avoiding opening notes that will disappear within minutes of wearing it.

SECRET #2 - LIMITED FILTRATION PROCESS

The filtration of oils (absolutes, etc.) for fragrances is typically done to remove haze and particulates from the perfumes. At Taboz Fragrances we are not concern about the creations look but its performance.  Indeed, we believe that the particles are actually excellent carriers of scents presents in our niche fragrances. Consequently, we only filter the fragrances to ensure the pump functionality.

Note that this approach may lead to small issues using the pumps, we recommend to shake the bottle before use it, and to insist with the pump in case that a small particle temporally block it. These imperceptible particles will ultimately pass through the pump to land in your skin for a unique olfactory journey.
